Is your window glass broken? Below is a checkoff list of things you need to know before taking the task head on or calling your local window replacement business.
Single Pane Window Replacement
Single Pane Windows have only one sheet or layer of glass. Typically, most older wood and aluminum frame windows will have this. It is not common for a vinyl window to have single pane of glass. If you are unsure, call a local glass repair shop near you.
Double Pane Window Replacement
Double pane windows, also known as dual pane windows and insulated glazing, have two sheets of glass bonded together as one unit. People typically misinterpret that a double pane window can be fixed by just replacing one side of the glass. Unfortunately, if one side of your double pane glass is broken, the whole unit still needs to be replaced. You may be wondering why? That is because most energy efficient windows contain an Argon gas enclosed in the double pane glass unit. Ordering a new unit allows for it to be filled again with argon gas hence keeping the window energy efficient.
